Reviewer Guidelines

Reviewers play a central role in maintaining the quality of the work published in AJCCE. These guidelines explain what the journal expects once you receive an invitation to review.

Responding to an invitation

  • Review invitations are sent by email and handled through the journal website. Log in to your account to accept or decline the request.
  • Accept only if the manuscript falls within your expertise and you can complete the review by the requested date.
  • If you have a conflict of interest with the work or its authors, decline the invitation and let the editor know.

Evaluating the manuscript

When assessing a manuscript, please consider:

  • its relevance to the journal's Aims and Scope;
  • the originality and significance of its contribution;
  • the soundness of the methodology and whether the work could be reproduced;
  • whether the results support the conclusions;
  • the clarity and organisation of the text, tables and figures;
  • the adequacy and accuracy of the references.

Writing the review

  • Begin with a short summary of the manuscript and its main contribution.
  • Separate major issues from minor corrections, and support each point with specific references to the text.
  • Keep your comments constructive, courteous and focused on the work rather than the authors.
  • Put any remarks intended only for the editor in the field reserved for the editor.

Recommendation

Finish the review by selecting a recommendation from the options in the review form. The editor makes the final decision after considering all the reviews.

Confidentiality and ethics

Treat the manuscript as confidential: do not share it, do not use its content, and do not upload it to AI tools. Report any suspected misconduct to the editor. For more detail, see Reviewer Responsibilities and the AI Policy.
