Editor Responsibilities

The editors of AJCCE are responsible for handling every submission fairly, confidentially and without undue delay. In particular, editors:

  • evaluate manuscripts on their academic merit and relevance to the journal's Aims and Scope, without regard to the authors' nationality, gender, religion, ethnicity, affiliation or political views;
  • keep information about submissions confidential and share it only with those involved in the editorial process;
  • do not use unpublished material from a submission in their own research without the authors' written consent;
  • declare any conflict of interest and withdraw from handling a manuscript where such a conflict exists;
  • invite reviewers with suitable expertise, and base decisions on the reviews, the journal's policies and their own assessment of the work;
  • communicate decisions to authors clearly, together with the reasons for them;
  • do not ask authors to cite the journal or particular works without a genuine academic reason;
  • look into suspected misconduct and take appropriate action in line with the journal's Publication Ethics;
  • consider appeals and complaints according to the Appeals and Complaints procedure.
